Mokokchung police arrests absconding salesman from Rajasthan

Mokokchung, March 12 (EMN): Mokokchung police has arrested a salesman, who went absconding after stealing money last year, from a village in Rajasthan after more than 10 months of investigation.

As per report from Mokokchung police, an FIR was filed at the Mokokchung PS-II on April 26, 2021 by one Mohan Ram Bhadu, owner of Matsung Hardware, complaining that one of his salesmen named Hetram Saran had stolen money and transferred the amount to his personal and his sister’s bank accounts.

Stating that the salesman absconded on April 17, 2021 without making the final settlement of the stolen money, the report said the details of bank transactions were obtained from Axis bank and SBI main branch, Mokokchung, and other information established during the investigation.

After locating the whereabouts of Saran from SP office cyber cell at Mokokchung, the police personnel from Mokokchung went to Mukam village in Rajasthan and arrested the accused with the assistance of Nokha police, Rajasthan.

Sources said that the accused was arrested on March 4 and the amount stolen was more than INR 5 lakh.

It was also informed that the accused confessed to the crime. He has been booked under the relevant section of the Law.

Two arrests made over possession of drugs

In another report, police personnel manning the Watiyongpang gate intercepted a scooty at around 1:30 pm on March 8 with three plastic containers suspected to be containing brown sugar weighing approximately four gram.

The rider of the scooty, one Bakon Phom (36) from Kangching village under PS Tamlu was arrested while the pillion rider managed to flee from the scene, it was informed.

Police said that efforts are on to arrest the co-accused and a case has been registered at Tuli police station in this connection.

On the same day (March 8) at around 3:30 pm, the police manning the Watiyongpang gate also intercepted one vehicle and recovered suspected brown sugar weighing approximately seven gram packed in four plastic containers and stashed in the vehicle’s dashboard.

The police informed that one Bauau Phom (22) from Tamlu town under  Longleng district was arrested in this connection and a case registered at Tuli police station.
