Mokokchung, April 24 (EMN): Citing reports of swine fever detection in the bordering districts of Jorhat and Sibsagar in Assam, the chief animal husbandry and veterinary officer Mokokchung has banned import of pig from Assam until further notice.
In a notification issued on Friday, the official stated that the department has received reports of detection of swine fever disease in Assam, especially Jorhat and Sibsagar districts which borders Mokokchung district.
In this connection, the department has informed that no pigs or even cut meat of pork would be allowed to enter Mokokchung district from Assam, ‘in order to prevent an outbreak of swine fever’
