[dropcap]M[/dropcap]anipur Governor, Vinod Kumar Duggal, along with his wife, and secretary to Governor RK Nimai Singh made a maiden visit to the Churachandpur district headquarter today to look into the grievances of the people and the government officials posted in the district.
On his arrival at the Kuki-Chin-Mizo communities dominated Churachandpur town, around 65 km south of Imphal, he was welcomed by the autonomous district council (ADC) members of the district and had a joint meeting at their ADC sitting hall wherein Governor asked about their grievances, sources from the hill district headquarters said.
The ADC members urged the visiting Governor to look into the erratic and inadequate power supply in the district headquarters.Later, the Governor chaired a meeting of the district level officers (DLO) at the Deputy Commissioner’s office at the hill town. The Governor has asked about the present requirement of the district level officers during the meeting.
The Governor also visited the Churachandpur district hospital and interacted with the patients. While the Governor Duggal was busy meeting the ADCs and DLOs, his wife visited two children homes of the district headquarters and a popular self help group which runs the famous dry flowers business in the state.
Today’s visit was first of its kind after he assumed office as the new Governor of Manipur. It may be mentioned here that Duggal, a former union home secretary, was sworn in as the 14th Governor of Manipur replacing Ashwini Kumar, who is Nagaland’s Governor, and has been looking after Manipur for some months after the retirement of former incumbent Gurbachan Jagat.
