Dimapur, July 19 (EMN): Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE) in Kohima organised a ‘Sci-Math exposition-cum-art and craft exhibition’ at the college auditorium on July 18.
MITE, in a press note, informed that the ‘Sci-Math exposition’ was organised by the students of the Science and Maths pedagogy with the sole aim of promoting interest in learning Mathematics and Science and also enhancing the subjects through practical demonstrations.
The art and craft exhibition was conducted as part of the CE-1 Nai Talim course by the second semester student-teachers. Keeping the theme of community usability and sustainability in mind, the student-teachers presented a colourful display of home-made crafts varying from items such as wooden utensils, decors, vase, woolen hats, tote bags, aprons, scrunchies, hair clips, jewelleries to papier-mache, pen stands, origami art, key-chains, brooms, etc all made from available materials at home, it informed.
The purpose of the exhibition was to encourage handicraft skills and foster practice of recycling and reusing, MITE stated.
A total of 500 students from nearby schools including Modern Higher Secondary School, Mt. Sinai Higher Secondary School and Little Flower Higher Secondary School also turned up for the exhibition.
