Missing 5-year-old boy found dead in Chümoukedima

In a horrifying incident, a five-year-old boy, who went missing on June 6, was found dead inside a sack at Seithekema, Chümoukedima on Tuesday morning.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Bharat Laxman Mankad, told Eastern Mirror that the boy was found dead with head injuries at Seithekema on June 7.

The police officer said that a first information report (FIR) under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code was filed at the Chümoukedima police station in connection with the incident on Tuesday.

He added that the body was discovered inside a sack at around 4 am on Tuesday by family members with assistance from the community.

The mortal remains of the boy were handed over to the family after post mortem, Mankad said, adding that no one has been arrested so far. The case is under investigation.
