With the theme “Every woman a Queen” imbibing confidence to step forward, Miss Eastern Nagaland 2018 is scheduled to be held on Nov. 30 in Tuensang.
The beauty pageant is being organised by Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation (ENWO), the frontier apex body representing the women community of Eastern Nagaland, amongst the six major tribes of Eastern Nagaland.
Informing this at a press conference this afternoon at Dream Café, Kohima, ENWO president, Ayong Chang said, it has taken the mantle of organising the beauty pageant 2018 from Eastern Naga Student Federation (ENSF) who has been organising the same for the past years.
The primary objective, she informed is to provide a platform to enable women from Eastern Nagaland to step forward and have the inbuilt confidence to compete with others and get equal opportunities to harness their skills and potential.
Chang also stated her hope that through this beauty pageant for the six major tribes, it will be able to provide the requisite impetus to its objectives of promoting progress and prosperity, social and economic upliftment and promoting equality and guarding against any form of discrimination. T
“This beauty pageant thus, empowers our women to get equal opportunity to represent their talents and skills both at the state and national level” said Chang and added that this kind of events also puts forward a motivational and inspirational desire in the younger generation that they too can get opportunity to move forward and have viable career growth opportunities
The winner of the Miss Eastern Nagaland 2018 will walk away with a cash prize of INR 50,000 while the first and second runner up will be awarded with INR 30,000 and INR 20,000 respectively along with gift hampers.
The organising committee also informed that apart from the questionnaires, the beauty pageant will have three rounds viz. traditional, designer and evening wear. The subtitles include Miss Talent, Miss Photogenic, Miss Ramp Walk, Miss Ethnic, Miss Congeniality and Miss Perfect 10.
The panel of judges are Dr. Keviletsu Khate, Sr. Scientist & Head Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tuensang; Ajit Kumar Verma, SDO (C), Tuensang; Bharat Laxman Markat, SP, Tuensang; Temjentula, assistant professor, Sao Chang College, Tuensang and Major Mdhvi Sharma, staff officer, HQ 7 Sector Assam Rifles.
The organising committee was represented by Yangnok Sangtam, president organising committee; Supou Kham, secretary organising committee; Ayong Chang, president ENWO; Ruthsan Yim, general secretary ENWO and Phangron Konyak, finance secretary organising committee. Giving a brief background, Chang said, ENWO was established in 2008 to promote progress and prosperity; social & economic upliftment through participatory approach; justice for women against all forms of discrimination and to uphold, protect the rights and liberty of women in the society.
The organising committee informed that Alesia Raat will be the official ramp walk trainer and show curator while Siddhaanth Surryavanshi will be the host of the show. They will be arriving on Nov. 26 in Dimapur and reach Tuensang on the next day.
Alesia Raut is an Indian model, VJ, and a fashion Choreographer. She had anchored a travel show on STAR One. And she was a contestant in a TV reality show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi. Suryavanshi is a television actor famous for his role in Kasauti Zindagi kay A down to earth actor; he has worked with the biggest names in the Indian Television.
