Minister inaugurates village gate in Asukhomi

Dimapur, Jan. 22 (EMN): PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi inaugurated the Asukhomi village gate in Zunheboto district on January 21 as the special guest. The village gate was erected to commemorate the upcoming 200 years of the village establishment scheduled in March next.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Jacob urged the public to remain grateful to God for his divine protection during this hard time and hoped that commemoration of 200 years of village establishment would bring blessings upon Asukhomi village.

He hoped that the installation of village gate would usher in both material and moral blessings, peace and prosperity that the village has been yearning to attain. He also prayed that the village would be shield from all misfortunes that might befall upon the villagers. Mentioning that attaining 200 years was not an easy feat, he further urged the people to elevate their morals and way of life in every aspect.

In a joint statement, chairman of Asukhomi village council, Vikato Khuju, and the secretary, Angukato Khuju stated that head GB of Asukho Old, Ghukato Khuju, has expressed gratitude to the minister for donating the village gate and also for the construction of approach road in Asukhomi village when he was the parliamentary secretary of Irrigation and Flood Control. He also stated that it was through his initiatives that a new water pipeline connectivity reached Asukhomi under the PHED department.

After the inaugural programme, a short reception programme was held at Asukho Old where cultural songs and dances were performed by the cultural troupe of Asukhomi village.
