Dimapur, Jan. 19 (EMN): Minister of Housing and Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum, inaugurated a newly constructed traditional village gate at Chakpa, some 35 km from Mokokchung town on January 18.
In his speech, Ozukum congratulated the village council and the villagers for the new village gate and dedicated its successful construction to the Riongsanger putu council under whose tutelage the construction commenced and was handed to the new village council, an update from the press secretary to the minister Imliyanger Aier stated on Sunday.
Acknowledging the egalitarian community lifestyle of Chakpa village, the minister has termed it as a unique village where two Naga tribes namely Aos and Changs co-exist in harmony thereby setting good example not only for the Nagas but other communities as well. He also encouraged the villagers to continue and prosper together in unity in the days to come.
Earlier, the program commenced with an invocation said by T Imdang Jamir, church secretary, while the welcome speech was delivered by lmkonglemba, council chairman of Chakpa village, and a sport speech delivered by R Yanger Jamir, former council chairman.
Imlinukshi, Aoula Medemsanger putu, delivered the vote of thanks and the programme culminated with a benediction said by Toshila, associate women pastor.
