Dimapur, August 2 (EMN): With no response from the Power department, despite repeated plea for the replacement of the old transformer, Joint Ward Co-ordination Committee (JWCC) Meluri town has served 10 days ultimatum to the Power department to install new transformer or make alternative arrangement within 10 days from August 2.
In a press note appended by Convernor Reineisie and co-convenor Sütsütho, stated that Meluri town denizen will stage protest if the Power department failed to installed new transformer and make alternative arrangement within the given stipulated time.
Since the inception of Meluri town, only 500KV A transformer has been installed and with growing urbanization the demand for power connection has been increasing, stated the press release.
In spite of repeated request to replace the old transformer, the JWCC said the Power department has turned deaf ear to the plea of the public.
JWCC stated that the present power failure is the second time in a span of one and half month, due to break down of the transformer.
Earlier, on May 22 and June 10, the problem of power was shared with the Chief Engineer T&R and requested for additional 500KVA (i.e.) 2nos of 250KV A transformer by the representative of the ward, to which assurance was giving that early action will be taken by the department. However, after repair of the damaged transformer it lasted for one month only, and the requirement for additional 500KV A is still awaited, JWCC stated.
The 63 KV A provided can feed only a handful of households and it is not sufficient for the 100 household, the press release added.
