MediaTek to launch overclocked Dimensity 9200+ chipset on May 10
The Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer, MediaTek, has just confirmed that an overclocked version of its highly-anticipated Dimensity 9200 flagship chipset is set to hit the market soon. The new chipset, dubbed the Dimensity 9200+, is slated to be unveiled at a forthcoming event scheduled for May 10.
The company’s official announcement has not given any details about the upgraded specs of the chipset. However, industry insiders speculate that the only difference between the standard edition and the overclocked version will be the core frequency.
The original Dimensity 9200 chipset used TSMC’s 2nd Gen 4nm+ manufacturing process and features a Cortex-X3 ultra core clocked at 3.05GHz, 3x Cortex-A715 performance cores clocked at 2.85GHz and 4x Cortex-A510 energy-efficient cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It also features a Mali-G715 Immortalis MC11 GPU clocked at 981MHz for handling graphics.
The upcoming Dimensity 9200+ is expected to be used in a range of flagship smartphones including the iQOO Neo8 standard edition, ASUS ROG Phone 7D, vivo X90S Pro and iQOO 11S. Its main competitor is anticipated to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen2 SoC but Qualcomm may also release an overclocked version of its chipset in the near future.
