Martyrs’ Trophy: Win for MTYO and Unity FC

Kohima, Sep. 30 (EMN): MTYO Medziphema and Unity FC registered win in their respective matches during the ongoing 20th NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy at Khouchiezie on Monday, September 30.

Playing the first match of the day, Zumzum opened the scoring for MTYO in the 5th minute, while Darhü added another goal in the 14th minute against Laimeisham FC Longleng.

Later in the second half Darhü scored his second goal in the 46th minute and completed his hat-trick in the 67th minute.

The consolation goal for Laimeisham FC Longleng was scored by Khosa in the 31st minute.

Zumzum scored the fifth goal for MTYO in the 69th minute to thrash Laimeishan FC Longleng 5-1.

Darhü of MTYO was cautioned with a yellow card in the 56th minute for unsporting behaviour.

The second match of the day was played between Unity FC and United Falcon Club Medziphema.

Unity FC proceeded to the 2nd round through tie-breaker.

The first half of the match ended in a goal less draw however, after the breather, Olando scored a goal for Unity FC in the 65th minute while Inato Ayemi of United Falcon Club equalised in the 82nd minute.

With both the teams locked at 1-1 goal till the final whistle, the match had to be decided through a tie breaker where Unity FC managed to register a 4-1 win.

With the victory, Unity FC will now take on Asüfii Christian Institute Manipur on October 5 at 2:30 pm.

Kenan, Khrukhotuo and Khriesamhalie of Unity FC and Botovi Yepthomi of United Falcon Club Medziphema Town were cautioned with a yellow card.
