Martyrs’ Trophy: KVSU and Tyrants FC through to next round

Kohima, Oct. 3 (EMN): Kohima Village Students’ Union (KVSU) and Kigwema Students’ Union (KSU), the villages of the two martyrs —Kekuojalie Sachu (Kohima village) and Vikhozo Yhoshu (Kigwema village)— on whose honour the tournament has been organised, played the second match of the day at the ongoing 20th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy on Thursday, October 3.
Spectators thronged the gallery to witness the rare occasion described by the organisers as a ‘history in the martyrs’ memorial trophy’. They shouted and cheered for their respective teams.

The teams were locked in a goalless draw in the first half of the match until Shürhotolie opened the account for the Kigwema Students’ Union in the 51st minute.

However, Kohima Village Students’ Union found an equaliser from the boots Ruovizhalie in the 55th minute before Mezhüsietuo added one more to the tally in the 59th minute to seal the game against Kigwema Students’s Union.

The Kohima Village Students’ Union will now take on Phesama Youth Organisation on October 8 at 2:30 pm.
Meanwhile, the first match of the day was played between Tyrants FC and High School Taxi Drivers XI, which the later won with a convincing scoreline 3-0.

The first half of the match ended with a goal being scored but Sedevizo opened the account for Tyrant FC in the 54th minute before scoring one more in the 73rd minute. Then Kethozo added another goal in the 77th minute to help his team beat High School Taxi Drivers X1.

With the win, Tyrants FC will now take on MVYO Meriema on October 7 at 2:30 pm.
Vilekhol of Tyrants FC and Aviu, Diezelhoulie and Adi of High School Taxi Drivers X1 were awarded yellow card on Thursday.
