Martula Jamir is first Miss Ao Nagaland
19 years old Martula Jamir of Kinunger village is the first Miss Ao Nagaland 2016. Jamir was crowned at a beauty pageant that was held here at Mokokchung Town Hall on Friday evening.
Sunepjungla Lkr and Watilemla Jamir, both from Longsa village, were adjudged the first- and secondrunners-up in that order.
The evening saw the Managing Director and chairman of REM Group, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer attending the pageant as its chief guest.
The winners were awarded with cash prizes and gift hampers.
The judges for the night were T Senka Ao, former editor of Ao vernacular daily Ao Milen, and Helen, associate professor at Fazl Ali College and Chubakatila.
The president of Lodestar, the organizer, Alem Imchen, informed that the Miss Ao Nagaland will now be given a one-year contract with Lodestar and will have the opportunity for direct entry (without audition) in the top-10 in Miss Luit.
She added that two of the winners will also get direct entry into Miss Luit. The top five finalists will have the opportunity to walk the ramp at the Itanagar show too.
