KOHIMA — The Maram Baptist Church Kohima (MBCK) on Friday celebrated its silver jubilee at the church premises on the theme ‘Proclaim His greatness.’

In his message, Rev. Zotuo Kiewhuo, senior pastor of Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC) and speaker of the celebration service, reminded the members not to forget the goodness of God, His mercies and favour upon mankind. He called upon the congregation to look unto Jesus and be prayerful Christians, rooted in Christ and His words.

Kiewhuo emphasised that the celebration of jubilee should be a celebration of breakthrough, deliverance, healing and prosperity. The reverend also pronounced the jubilee blessings upon the congregation.

Rev. Lumtsuo Ezung, executive secretary of the Nagamese Baptist Church Association (NBCA), extended greetings to the church and reminded the members to reflect on God’s faithfulness and greatness. He also called upon the church to introspect, urging that MBCK should be significant to the hearts of people, not merely a successful church.

Rev. Ezung emphasised the shared responsibility of building the church and urged the congregation to be mature believers and witnesses of the Lord.

Rev. PK Jacob Pungnamei, founder pastor of Maram Baptist Church Kohima, dedicated the silver jubilee monolith and delivered the welcome address.

He shared a brief history of MBCK, which first began in the Sunday school room of Koinonia Baptist Church under the guidance of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, with a burden for soul-winning.

Rev. Pungnamei recalled that the first service, which he led, was attended by 25 people with Rev. Zotuo Kiewhuo as the speaker. The service continued for a year, and the church has since grown over the years.

He described the church as a new beginning and a new generation church that God has led over the years and he sought prayer support for its future.

The souvenir was released by Rev. Phomlee Van, pastor of Kohima Phom Baptist Church and advisor of Kohima Baptist Pastors Fellowship (KBPF).

The programme was led by Dr. Chingpai Lily, while songs were presented by the children’s ministry MBCK, Maram Kohima and the jubilee choir. Scripture readings were led by Akuba Vizo and Isaac, deacon, and the vote of thanks was delivered by R Standhope, MBCK church secretary.

On the occasion, an adoration prayer was offered by Zasivoto Rote, offertory prayer by Sudhan, deacon, and the prayer for the families of departed souls by Khi Peter, pastor of Nagamese Baptist Church, High School Area.
