Manipur Police seizes drugs worth INR 2.16 crore

Imphal, April 11 (EMN): Manipur police team stationed at Tengnoupal police station in Tengnoupal district have recovered and seized illegal drugs worth INR 2.16 crores in the past two weeks.
Sharing the photographs of the police team with the seized items in a tweet, chief minister N Biren Singh wrote, “War on drugs 2.0: In its 11th seizure of drugs in the past 2 weeks, the Tengnoupal Police have recovered 25 soap cases of suspected brown sugar, weighing approximately 1.082 kg from two persons. The consignment is valued at about INR 2.16 crore”.
Meanwhile, a team of state police stationed at Mao Police Station in Manipur’s Senapati district detected and seized suspected heroin powder worth INR 70 lakh in international market during a regular frisking and checking of vehicles at Mao gate, 110 km north of Imphal on Saturday.
Inspector Worchipem Ngalung, officer-in-charge of Mao police station stopped one Tata truck coming from Imphal and found two packets containing white powder suspected to be heroin, police said.
The truck driver who identified himself as Maibam Nasir Khan (30) of Thoubal Moijing under Thoubal police station disclosed that it was heroin powder.
A case under ND&PS Act has been registered for investigation.
