Manipur logs 592 fresh Covid-19 cases, 6 deaths

Imphal, June 19 (EMN):
Manipur on Saturday reported six deaths due to Covid-19, taking the state’s death toll to 1039, according to a press release.

Of the six deaths reported at four health centres in the state, three were reported from Imphal East, two from Kakching and one from Imphal West.

Meanwhile, the state recorded 592 fresh positive cases from 5,873 samples tested in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s total infection tally to 63,538, besides decreasing the total number of active cases to 9,538.

The new positive cases were detected from 14 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (160), Imphal East (103) and Thoubal (64) districts. 

On the other hand, with 294 new recoveries including 170 from home isolation facilities in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered Covid-19 cases in Manipur reached 52,961, it said. The recovery rate stands at 83.35 percent.

Out of total recovered cases, 49,200 are from the general population while the remaining 3,761 are central security personnel, it said.

As of Saturday, 6,89,382 persons were screened at the entry points of the state while 8,52,662 persons were tested for Covid-19 at the various testing centres in the state.

Meanwhile, Manipur police detained 154 persons across the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of INR 72,950 was also collected as fine.

On the other hand, the state has so far given 5,71,606 anti-Covid jabs including 4,89,577 first and 82,029 second doses to the residents.

The total number of healthcare workers vaccinated for both the first and second doses of Covishield vaccine is 64,727 while 1,50,263 frontline workers received both doses. The first dose of Covishield was vaccinated to 1,57,318 people between 45-59 years and 95,293 people above 60 years besides 1,04,005 people between 18-44 years.
