Imphal, Jan. 5 (EMN): The office of the Chief Electoral Officer(CEO), Manipur on Wednesday published the final electoral roll for the state which now has 20,34,966 voters. The total electorate in Manipur now includes 10,49,639 women, 9,85,119 men and 208 members of the third gender.

Announcing this during a press conference in Imphal, the CEO Manipur Rajesh Agrawal said, “One printed copy of the Final Electoral Roll of each Assembly Constituency and another copy in DVD-ROM will be made available free of cost to the recognised National and State Political Parties.”

“The recognised State/National Political parties may depute one representative of their party, duly authorised (in writing) to the CEO’s office for this purpose,” he said.

Expressing that there is overwhelming participation from female electors and they are much more proactive in the participation of electoral process, the CEO said that the Gender Ratio as on date of Final Publication with electors as per Final Roll with effect from January 1,2022 as the qualifying date is 1065.

As per final electoral roll 2022, Electors to Population Ratio (EP Ratio) is 57.70 as compared to the Draft Electoral Roll figure of 55.81 in October this year.”Our EP ratio has been pulled down by two districts (Senapati and Kangpokpi) when EP ratio stands are 41 and 35 respectively because of abnormal increase in population in 2011-12,” he said.

“This time lots of new voters of 18 and 19 years have joined in the electoral roll. So around 55,000 to 60,000 of the above age group will participate in the electoral process,” he added.

At the same time, the total number of polling stations is 2959 with the increase of 65 new polling stations, he stated. There is a 95% increase in the marking of Person with Disabilities that is from 7520 to 14565.

Replying to a question, he said that the Election Commission of India team was scheduled to visit the state in December last year or early January this year, but they’ve not been able for physical visit because of Covid related issues and some other circumstances. As a result a review was held via video conferencing today,he informed.

The day’s press conference was attended by Additional CEO N Praveen Singh, Joint CEO Ramananda Nongmeikapam, Joint CEO (II) Md S Daulat Khan, State Nodal Officer Media W Phajatombi Devi and other officials.

Manipur will go to assembly polls along with Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Goa shortly as the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly expires on March 19 this year.
