Manipur Class 12 board exams begin

Imphal, April 7(EMN): The Class 12 or Higher Secondary Examination, 2022 conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) began on Thursday with strict Covid-19 guidelines. The examination will continue till May 5 this year.

The offline mode examination started with English paper on its first day at 118 centres across the state’s 16 districts, with a total of 28,400 students appearing for the examination.

Of this total, 8,203(4168 male and 4035 female) are from the Arts stream while 19,629 (9958 male and 9671 female) are from the Science stream and 568 (305 male and 268 female) are from the Commerce stream.

Official sources said that authorities of COHSEM had taken all necessary steps to conduct the examinations in a free and fair manner with strict adherence to the Covid-19 SOPs and guidelines.

The examination is being conducted offline after two years with daily Covid-19 infections having dropped sharply. The Manipur government has lifted all the Covid-19 restrictions imposed earlier under Disaster Management Act 2005, except Standard Operating Procedures, and guidelines by the Manipur Education department were lifted in Manipur with effect from April 1.

Meanwhile in a message, chief minister N Biren Singh wrote, “This year, with the return to normalcy, the government has decided to conduct the examination physically, by observing all SOPs. Do not be depressed by questions that you could not answer. Attempt good replies to those questions, the answer of which you have prepared for. Remember these examinations are merely bridges that are laid before you to cross.”

In a message, Manipur Education minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh also urged the students to appear in a happy and stress-free manner.
