Livestock vaccination camp held in Anakiyimsen

Dimapur, Sep. 29 (EMN): A one-day vaccination camp on livestock and integrated pest management on agricultural crops was conducted at Anakiyimsen village in Mokokchung district for the Mahila kisan (women farmers) on September 28.

The resource persons were Dr. Tiatoshi from department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services; Takalemba Jamir, DFS (NSRLM); Purlemla Jamir, DFS (NSRLM); Sentiwaza, AC; and Alemongla Pongen, AC.

The programme was conducted by DAY-NSRLM, DRDA Mokokchung, as part of the annual action plan for the financial year 2019-2020.

In an update, Takalemba Jamir, DFS (NSLRM), DRDA, stated that the participating Mahila kisan were educated on the vaccination against classical swine fever (CSF), pest management on crops and preparation of bio-decomposer.

The event was one of its first kind initiated in Anakiyimsen village under Tuli RD block. With the training, NSLRM aims to educate the Mahila kisan on immunisation and vaccination of pigs from CSF disease and to protect the crops from various insect pests.

Tuli block area, which is one of the most fertile areas under Mokokchung district, has huge potentials for pig rearing, agriculture and other livestock, the release added.

The participating Mahila kisan expressed gratitude to the NSLRM and department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Service for conducting the programme and hoped that the knowledge gained through the programme would go a long way in modernising their mode of pig rearing and pest management in crops. Altogether 40 Mahila kisan participated in the programme.
