Dimapur, Aug. 15 (EMN): A flash flood triggered by torrential rains washed away two connecting bridges at Nyang village in Longleng district on August 14.

The village community informed Eastern Mirror that that the two mini bridges — Chuvaü Shao and Enam Shao — named after the two streams, were completely washed away by the flood causes by the heavy rainfall that occurred on August 14.

The two bridges were said to be the only lifeline of the village connecting other parts of Longleng district via Yongam village.

“Although there is an alternative route to reach Longleng district via Yongnyah village, the road is not commutable and it will take almost two to three hours to reach Longleng via Yongnyah village,” the village community said.

The community leaders also maintained that taking alternative route might cause inconveniences to other villages due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic situation.

Nyang village community has requested the concerned department to come to their rescue by restoring the damaged bridges.
