Legal Services Authorities celebrate R-Day across the state

Dimapur, Jan. 29: Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLS) and District Legal services Authority celebrated the 68th Republic Day in all the eleven districts across the state.
On the occasion, Legal Services Authorities reached out to the masses gathered at the ceremonial venue to spread legal literacy and render free legal services by setting up free legal literacy stall, exhibition stall and legal camps. Commemorating the day, officials of the District Legal Services Authorities also visited district jails, orphanages and shelter homes and conducted legal literacy programmes.
At the stall, legal literacy booklets, pamphlets, flyers, leaflets and simplified law books on various legislations and provisions of law were distributed at free of cost.Kiphire District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) observed Republic Day by setting put a stall at the venue, led by Nino Iralu, member secretary of NSLSA. The chief guest, C Kipili Sangtam, Minister for Power, released a legal literacy book on ‘The Nagaland Village Council & Area Act, 1978,’ translated in Sangtam dialect. The objective in releasing the translated copy in local dialect is to reach out to the local people targeting even the remotest villages of the state who are not able to read and understand English or other languages.
Tuensang District Legal Services Authority celebrated the 68th Republic Day at Local ground, Tuensang . A Legal Literacy camp was setup at ceremonial venue which was manned by N. Kano, JMFC Tuensang and secretary of the Tuensang District Legal Services Authority, panel lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs). Booklets written in local dialect was also introduced.
Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority led by Phuleto, judicial magistrate first class and secretary of Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority along with legal aid counsels, panel lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) setup a free legal aid camp at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex to commemorate the Republic Day celebration. Free legal literacy booklets on various provisions and law were distributed.
Zunheboto, Longleng District Legal Services Authority, Mon District Legal Services Authority, Peren District Legal services Authority, Phek District Legal services Authority and Wokha District Legal Services Authority also observed the 68th Republic Day by setting up legal literacy stall, distributed legal literacy booklets, pamphlets and flyers and visited hospital, district jail and orphanage home.
