Kohima, May 13 (EMN): The Core Committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Naga Political Issue will soon meet the central leadership in Delhi in connection with the vexed Naga problem.

This was informed by the state government’s spokesperson and minister for Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu following the meet of the core committee at the State Banquet Hall, Chief Minister’s Residential Complex, Kohima, on Friday.

Kronu, who is also the member secretary of the core committee, said that Friday’s meeting was the first gathering of the panel after the merger of 21 Naga People’s Front (NPF) MLAs with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), even though they have been working together before.

Pointing out the need to update each other on the progress of the Naga peace talks, he said the members of the core committee were updated after Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Dy CM Y Patton and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Chairman TR Zeliang met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi recently.

Kronu also informed that Rio, Patton, Zeliang and NPF Legislature Party leader Kuzholuzo Nienu will soon head to Delhi to meet the central leadership.

He said that the recent political development will not affect the committee and all will work together for settlement of the Naga political issue.

Meanwhile, reliable sources informed this newspaper that the Nagaland delegation is scheduled to leave for Delhi to meet the central leaders on May 15.
