KVK organises demonstration on toria
Dimapur, February 6
To increase the production and productivity of oilseed crops in the district, KVK Dimapur, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jharnapani, took up demonstration of Toria variety TS-38 in 250 hac area as second crop after the harvest of paddy/ maize. The demonstration programme was initiated by taking into consideration that large portion of the paddy fields (nearly 90%) remained fallow after the harvest of paddy without any subsequent crop. Under the programme, trainings were imparted to the farmers on cultivation and management practices of toria along with technical and input supports like seeds, fertilizers and plant protection chemicals.
As a follow up programme, KVK Dimapur had conducted Field Day on Toria variety TS 38 at Seithekima-A village on January 13, Dhansiripar village on January 15 and again at Seithekima-A village on February 4 with active participation of 32, 53, and 66 farmers respectively during the three days programme.
