KVC organises common platform for 10 Northern Angami I candidates

The Kohima Village Council (KVC) on Wednesday organised a common platform for 10 Northern Angami -I General Election 2023 at Ziekiezou in Kohima.

The two candidates — sitting MLA Khriehu Liezietsu for NPF and Dr. Kekhrie Yhome for NDPP — addressed the electorate with their visions and plans.

Addressing the gathering first, Liezietsu asserted that the 60 MLAs coming as one in forming the opposition-less government was for no other reasons but to pursue the Naga issue in unison for the early resolution.

He maintained that everyone was hoping for a solution before election but it could not materialise, yet he stated that the 60 MLAs even for the new house of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) would continue to pursue the aspirations of the Naga.

He also asserted that the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has pre-poll understanding for post-poll alliance.

Liezietsu acknowledged the people for their support and favour while he also highlighted the various programmes and initiatives he had undertaken such as sponsoring admission fees for about 300-350 students, distribution of rations to people during COVID-19 pandemic and sponsoring of civil service aspirants at ALS Coaching institute from the constituency, adding that students have successfully achieved over the years.

He also highlighted that through SACI- Special Assistance to state for Capital Investment, road repairing and blacktopping were done, and asserted to take up more such activities and plans in the constituency. He added that LADF and iconic project works would also be carried out in identified places.

Liezietsu also pointed out the models of village adoption and works being undertaken in the constituency while he also vouched to carry all such works for the development.

Expressing concern for non-completion of sports complex at Ziekiezou owing to funding and technical errors, he however assured to take up the same for timely completion.

Further Liezietsu also shares visions to help and leverage SHGs, empowerment of youth, provide scholarships for students and sports persons while also prioritising water, road, power and health sectors for the masses.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kekhrie Yhome in his speech shared his vision and dream of entry into politics, stating that it is to strengthen the leadership of the village while also focusing on recognition of the aspirations of the people.

Emphasising on the front of education, he stressed on the need to strengthen the various institutions such as Rüzhükhrie Govt. Hr. Sec. School, TM Govt. Hr. School, Kohima College while also pointing out the need to establish an engineering college and agricultural university.

He was also vocal for securing a water supply for the constituency, enhancing transformer capacity, road infrastructure and upgrading health infrastructure and administrative and police stations in the constituency.

Yhome also shared his vision for skill development, capacity building and employment sectors while he also called upon the people to avail the welfare programmes and measures being introduced by the government.

The NDPP candidate said the party in alliance with its partner BJP is confident of forming the next government and called upon the electorates to be with the ruling government while he also assured to uplift the people of the constituency with public consultation.

The programme was chaired by KVC Chairman, Hielievi-o Solo and he also exhorted the gatherings about clean elections. A prayer was said by Rev Keviyiekielie Linyu, pastor Ebenezer Baptist Church, Dziesekhrienuo Keretsu presented a song and vote of thanks was proposed by Zeneizo Rutsa, Vice-chairman of KVC.
