Dimapur, July 3 (EMN): In a prelude to the grand golden jubilee celebration scheduled on October 8, the Kumlong Ward Golden Jubilee Planning Committee along with the Kumlong Ward Council observed the 50th ward foundation day at its community hall on July 3 where the colony leaders were apprised of the provisional activities to be performed on the great day.
Speaking at the foundation day programme, the Kumlong Ward Council chairman, Lanu Imchen, expressed happiness and satisfaction at the efforts and sacrifices rendered by the planning committee members since 2015. He said the works so far done by the committee was much beyond the expectation of the ward council and hoped that the jubilee would be celebrated in a most appropriate and grand manner.
The secretary of the Kumlong Ward Golden Jubilee Planning Committee, Tiatoshi, briefed the members present about the different activities undertaken by the committee during the past three years. He said that the planning committee had been conducting different activities like painting competition for children, creating environmental awareness etc in commemoration of the golden jubilee celebration. He also presented a brief financial audit of the planning committee.
The convenor of the planning committee, Tia Longkumer, who chaired the programme, informed the gathering as to why the date had to be shifted to October 8 instead of celebrating the jubilee in July. Longkumer informed that the planning committee, after thorough deliberation, observed that the month of July would be inconvenient to celebrate such a great programme.
Longkumer said the committee, keeping in mind the interests of all concerned especially the students and officer goers and also the weather condition of Mokokchung town, decided to schedule the date for celebrating the jubilee on October 8.
Pastor of Kumlong Baptist Church, Rev. I Lima Jamir, shared a brief word of encouragement and invoked God’s blessings for a successful jubilee celebration.
