Kukami and Lhosheli memorial trophy underway

Dimapur, Oct. 29 (EMN): A week-long, 10-U Kukami Trophy (men’s football), 4-U badminton (men and women) and 10-U Lhosheli Neho Memorial trophy (women’s volleyball) organised by the 35-U Kuhuboto Ghakhu Sports Association (KGSA) got underway at Xelhozhe village, on Mon. Oct. 29.

In the opening match, host team Xelhozhe village thrashed Xekhiye 7-0.

Earlier, the opening ceremony was attended by kilonser NSCN (R), Viniho Kiho as the chief guest in place of chief host NSCN (R) vice-president, Akato Chophi.

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest reminded the participants that discipline was one of the most effective tools needed to achieve in sports. Apart from this, to become successful in sports, one must work harder, he told the participants. He also lauded the donors and KGSA for providing platform to the youngsters to exhibit their skills. He further appealed to the participants to utilize this platform seriously so that they can represent the state and country in the national and international levels. Expressing happiness that some talented youngsters from the area have started playing at the national level, he urged the participants to emulate them so that in future it will be their turn to perform at higher levels.

Earlier, on his arrival, the chief guest hosted the association flag. All together 19 units under KGSA are participating in the meet which will culminate on Nov. 3.

In men’s football, 15 teams are vying for the title, in women’s volleyball- nine teams and in badminton (men and women)-11 teams.
