Kohima March 6 (EMN): Krurhe Peli of Lhisemia Thinuo in Kohima village will celebrate its Silver Jubilee coinciding with the inauguration of Rüleichü which is situated opposite NPSC office in Kohima, on March 10 at Chatsa.
This was announced by the convenor of the organising committee, Kekhrielelie Tsiekha, at a press conference held in the presence of peli (peer group) members at the newly constructed Krurhe Rüleichü on Friday evening.
Tsiekha stated that the word ‘Krurhe’ is derived from Tenyidie language, meaning ‘group of folks who share a common interest’ comprising individuals with the same mindset and who appreciate each other and choose to be in a group.
It was informed that the peli was formed in the year 1995, according to Tenyimia culture and tradition, for the youths to uphold unity and ancestral practice, and that it has been contributing to the society. The members also maintained that peli strives to preserve the rich cultural heritage and the ancestral values of brotherhood and friendship, as well as solidify and strengthen in unity and truth.
The organisers said that competitions on indigenous game like tug-of-war, war cry and others will be held between the various peli of the Lhisemia khel during the celebration. They added that the Rüleichü, a plastic-free zone, will be dedicated to the people for showcasing the rich cultural heritage and to provide a spot for people to meet over outings, picnics and general gathering.
Legislator Toyang Chang will attend the event as chief guest and inaugurate the newly constructed park.
