Dimapur, July 18 (EMN): Acting on specific information, Nagaland Police personnel of Narcotic Cell PHQ, intercepted a Guwahati-bound vehicle B/R No. RJ19CF-9864 (Maruti Swift) at NH-29, Kohima, and recovered suspected contraband on Monday around 2pm.

SP (Crime) and PRO, PHQ, in a press release informed that a thorough search of the vehicle, which was coming from Imphal, led to recovery of 22 cello taped polythene packets containing suspected opium weighing approximately 21 Kg and 142 grams.

The contraband were concealed inside a manually built-in chamber in the running board through the mud-guard of the vehicle.

In this connection, police arrested an NCO of the Indian Army Ordinance Corp, Narengi Cantonment, Guwahati, namely Havildar Rakesh Vishnoi (29 years), son of Mangilal, a resident of Jhalamaliya village, Rajasthan, who was driving the vehicle along with another occupant of the vehicle namely Suresh Choudhary (23 years), son of Bhura Ram, of Potaliya Chopra Pali vilage, Rajasthan, and the suspected contraband item duly seized.

A case, vide Narcotic Cell Police Station Case No.06/2022 U/S 18/(b)/60 NDPS Act, has been registered for further investigation, the release stated.
