Dimapur, Sep. 3 (EMN): The Kohima district-level committee (DLC) has chalked out various activities for implementation of New India @75 during a meeting held in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office, Kohima, on September 3.

The additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Kohima, N Bhavani Sri, who also chaired the meeting, highlighted the role of the district-level committee, a DIPR report stated on Friday. She informed that the district level activities would comprise of two major activities – conduct of awareness drive at the identified schools and colleges on the three themes encompassing HIV, TB and blood donation and also coordinate with the identified schools and colleges for the competition activities.

ADC further requested all the members to work together and take forward the activities for the successful implementation of the programme in the district.

Meanwhile, the house nominated some members and also constituted sub-committee to carry out awareness activities.

The district program officer, Sentimongla Tzudir, also highlighted on the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) plan of New India@ 75 to be implemented under the aegis of National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO).

She informed that the NACO has planned to conduct three awareness campaigns in phased manner on HIV, TB and blood donation. She informed that after the awareness campaign, online competitions on the three themes would be conducted where prize money along with certificates would be awarded to the winners.

The target group of the campaign consisted of students from classes 9 and 11 and Red Ribbon Club members in the colleges/ institute.  

DPO also informed that for Kohima district, the activities plan remain the same for all the three phases. She, however, stated that the timeline would be intimated in phase manner after approval from the state level committee.

She further informed that six schools and six colleges have been selected in the district for the first phase, where awareness drive on HIV, TB and blood donation would be taken up within the next few days.
