Dimapur, May 6 (EMN): To commemorate the ‘World Environment Day,’ Kohima Law College organised a social work on May 6 in which the assistant professor, Kezhokhoto Savi, officially launched the month-long activities which would culminate on June 5 on the theme “Only one earth.”
Savi informed that Kohima Law College would organise programmes to encourage citizens of the state to take action for protection of the environment and also to raise awareness on the problems confronting the environment such as air pollution, plastic pollution, illegal wildlife trade, and food security, among others, an update from the college stated.
Savi stated that the ‘World Environment Day 2022’ global campaign on the theme “Only one earth” called for transformation changes on policies and choices to enable cleaner, greener, and sustainable living in harmony with nature.
He mentioned that “Only one earth” was the motto of the 1972 Stockholm conference and added that 2022 is a historic milestone for the United Nations Environment Programme and the global environmental community as it marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of United Nations Environment Programme.
He added that Sweden would be the host country for this year. The ‘World Environment Day’ is celebrated on June 5 every year in over 100 countries.
