Kohima inter-high school tourney: Baptist High, RHSS, LHSS, CCS through to semis

Kohima, April 7 (EMN): On day-two of the Kohima inter-high school tournament, Baptist High, Rüzhükhrie Higher Secondary School (RHSS), Loyola Higher Secondary School (LHSS) and Children Christian School (CCS) made it through to the semi-finals at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS), Kohima on Thursday.

The four-day long tournament is being organised by the department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS).

In boy’s football, Baptist High thrashed Mt. Hermon School to book their semi-final berth via a tie breaker of 5-4 goals after the match ended in a goalless draw. Although there were good plays from both the teams, both failed to score in the stipulated time even as Mt. Hermon School got a decisive kick in the penalty shootout.

 Meanwhile, RHSS continued their dominance in the tournament as they outplayed their opponent Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School by 9-1 goals. Kezhaletuo scored five goals, while Keviu scored two and Neihelie and Ketoungulie contributed a goal each for RHSS.

With the win, Rüzhükhrie School will lock horns with Baptist High at 1 pm in the semi-final match on Friday.

In Pool- B, LHSS sent Grace Higher Secondary home by 4-0 goals to book a berth in the semis. Avizo Phira scored a hat-trick, while Medonguzo Phira added a goal to secure the win for LHSS.

CCS defeated Mt. Sinai by 2-1goals in the last quarter final match. Mutsuhu and Juniho scored for CC School and the solitary goal for Mt. Sinai was scored by Jovelhu in the dying minutes. With this, CCS will clash with LHSS  in the semi-final match on Friday.

Meanwhile, in girls football, LHSS will play against TM Hr. Sec. School in the first semi-final match at 8 am, while GMS Meriema will play against RHSS in the second semi-final match at 9:30 am.

Badminton and table tennis will begin from March 8 onwards at IG Stadium.
