Kohima gets dressed for festive season

Dimapur, Nov. 24 (EMN): As part of preparations for the forthcoming Hornbill Festival 2019, residents of capital town Kohima on November 23 cleaned surroundings that are within the Kohima municipal area.

The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) gave updates about the community work.

The cleanliness drive was conducted under the supervision of the district administration along with the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) and the Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the IPR stated.

Building owners, shop keepers and members of the local business community participated in the work, which commenced from 6:00 am, the updates stated.

They cleaned the public areas while also white-washing or painting and decorating shops in anticipation of the coming festive season, the updates stated. Similar work was done in various wards by their respective Panchayats and youth organisations, the IPR stated.

The town’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa inspected the progress of the work and acknowledged all in concern for cooperating in the effort to make the town cleaner and ‘greener,’ and ‘making the social work a success.’ She hoped that the citizens would uphold the sense of responsibility and put more efforts into maintaining cleanliness even in the days to come, the IPR stated.

Tseminyu anniversary
The administration of Tseminyu has issued a notice informing about a cleanliness drive in Tseminyu town in view of the forthcoming 50th anniversary celebrations of Tseminyu ‘new township’ and Ngada mini-Hornbill Festival to be conducted during November 27-28 at Tseminyu town, the IPR stated.

Officers and staff of all the departments in Tseminyu sub-division and at least one adult each from every household and family in the town are requested to compulsorily participate in the social work, the IPR informed.
