Principal Correspondent
KOHIMA, JANUARY 18
[dropcap]C[/dropcap]oncerned about impending problems of drainage blockades due to uneven constructions, the Kohima district administration today cleared the drainage from Mohonkhola to Y-junction at South Point Market here.
Talking to this correspondent on the sidelines of the work, DC Kohima W. Honje Konyak said though the drainage existed along the stretch, there was no uniformity in construction. But, after having proper consultation with the colony panchayats of Old Ministers’ Hill and Potterlane, the drainage construction is being carried out to bring about uniformity. He said that such an effort is not possible for the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) alone so we have come along to construct uniform drainage along the National Highway-29 while BRO would be taking up the work for cementing and putting up slabs.
The effort is being carried out jointly by District Administration, Traffic Police, Kohima Municipal Council with machineries, T. Khel Youth Organisation, Fire Brigade under the guidance of DC Kohima.
Mention may be made here that because of the uneven drainage water used to get clogged at various locations subsequently water and garbage used to flow on the road along the stretch.
