Kiphire villagers decide to pave own road

Dimapur, June 27: Unable to wait any longer for the Nagaland government, a group of citizens, understood to be from Kiphire district, have gone ahead to mobilize funds to pave a road so they can buy from Shamator, in Tuensang district.
It was informed that the “Kiphire incident” brought a plethora of misery for the local Yimchungru population who were allegedly denied ‘access to their daily sustenance.’ A grueling trek of 7-8 hours to Shamator for basic amenities was the price they had to pay, the organizers of the initiative said on Monday.
No longer able to wait for the Nagaland government, the people of Thsuthu, Pungrungru and Rurru villages got their heads together and came up with the idea of building the Tsuthu-Pungrru-Rurru-Shipongru road without waiting for government aid and effort.”Private citizens, S. Keoshu and Kejingkhum, in the capacity of ‘construction organizers’ offered updates on Monday in a press release that was issued to the local media.
“Necessity they said is the mother of invention. But what is transpiring here is no invention but a profound manifestation of the will of the people,” the press release stated.
“The Kiphire incident brought in its wake a plethora of miseries for the local populace (Yimchungru) when they were denied easy access to their daily sustenance. A grueling trek of 7-8 hours to Shamator for basic amenities is the price these hapless people had to pay,” the organizers informed.
“To alleviate these hardships, the people of five villages, namely Thsuthu, Pungrungru and Rurru (sic) got their heads together and came up with the idea of building the Tsuthu-Pungrru-Rurru-Shipongru road without waiting for government aid and effort.”
The organizers said that the arduous stretch of 15 kilometers is all but half done. “The 5 km stretch road constructed so far has been possible with the generous aid from voluntary contributions from well wishers and also from the people who have largely been sensitized through the social media platforms like Facebook and Whatsapp group,” the press release stated.
“Once complete, this road will not only restore comforts that will touch the life of many in the area, but will also show to the world how determined the people are to restore peace and harmony in the region, only hope and pray that the goodness and humanitarian sentiments behind this initiative is visible to one and all.”
A portrayal of the triumph of the Villagers in need of roads resolve and this initiative awaits assistance for more and more well wishers to help.
