Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN):
Local authorities of Kigwema village in Kohima district met with members of the village adoption committee (VAC) on September 24 at the Kigwema council hall during which they deliberated on various issues concerning how the committee and the village can work together.

The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) issued updates on Sep. 24 informing about the event.

The Kohima District Planning & Development Board has ‘adopted’ Kigwema village, in the 14th Southern Angami Constituency, for the year 2019-20, updates stated.

The village committee suggested various areas that require development, improvement and practical knowledge or skills for the benefit of the village, the IPR stated.

The convenor of the committee, subdivision officer (civil) for Jakhama, Alemyapang Longchar spoke about objectives of the VAC and the benefit of the ‘bottoms up’ approach to planning and reporting. Through the concept, the best practices of village/wards can be imparted to other villages too, he said, according to the IPR’s report.

The VAC is composed of members of the Youth Resource department, Kohima College, Home Guard & Civil Defence, Veterinary department, PHED, Treasury, Culture, Rural Development, and the Soil & Water Conservation department. It will be working alongside with the village authorities to provide not just assistance or guidance but also the necessary expertise, the IPR stated.
