Khekaho graces U-18 Futsal Tournament

Dimapur, March 26 (EMN): Parliamentary Secretary Sports & Youth Resources, Khekaho Assumi graced the U-18 Futsal Tournament as the chief guest, which got underway on Sunday, March 26 at the A1 Powerplay arena.
Addressing a packed audience of sports lovers, the participating teams and well wishers, Khekaho while pointing out that sporting excellence should come at the right time and right age assured to take the initiative to ensure that sporting talents are tapped at the grass-root levels.
Assumi further said that broad based ideas would be diced to make sports sustainable and actionable. While highlighting on Khelo India which he mentioned was for development of sports in the country, Khekaho informed that there would be tremendous change in infrastructure, coaching camps, trainings, seminars etc once funds under this project is approved by Niti Aayog.
He also assured for equitable distribution of funds once the Khelo India scheme is approved. The parliamentary secretary expressed appreciation to the North East United Football Club for taking the initiative within their professional capacity by coming to Nagaland to scout local talents thereby boosting the performance of the youngsters in the State and making them discover the joy of football.
An exciting exhibition match was played between Young Naga Personalities versus Western Sumi Student Leaders to promote peace and Futsal Football in Nagaland.
Parliamentary Secretary MTF & Lotteries Kriehu Liezietsu was also present on the occasion. All together 16 teams registered to play for the U-18 Futsal tournament. Futsal tournament is an initiative of A1 Powerplay in collaboration with the department of Youth Resources and Sports.
