KG Kenye exhorts youth to be disciplined, self-confident

Kohima, Dec. 6 (EMN): Former Member of Parliament and Advisor of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), KG Kenye, on Tuesday asserted that sports is one of the important human activities, which helps to unify people of all countries, despite power struggles, political and border issues.
Kenye was addressing the inauguration programme of the 57th games and sports meet of Pholami Youth Organisation (PYO) at Cepichozu GHS ground, Pholami village in Phek district.
Maintaining that Pholami village is second to none in the field of games and sports, he also recalled the achievements of prominent wrestler Vemerha Getsa and other personalities.
Sports profession has become an industry for income generation, he said and added that there are many from humble beginnings who later rose to prominence through sports.
The former MP exuded hope that the government’s policy on sports will also further boost and encourage sports persons in the state.
Meanwhile, he advised the youth to be disciplined, to keep practicing, follow strict diet regime along with strong determination and self-confidence
Earlier, president PYO, Shehuve Swuro, in his address acknowledged Nagaland Sepaktekraw coach, Holshe Khrieo, and the team from Pholami which represented Phek district and also at the national level.
He also lauded the efforts of the players who represented Phek district football team.
Six khels namely Rukhro, Thizho, Ceka, Nasaku, Muduzu and Upper-1, will be competing in various athletic and games events during the four-day sports meet.
