Dimapur, June 11 (EMN):
A Shramik special train from Trivandrum in Kerala, scheduled to arrive in Nagaland on June 13, will be creating history by travelling 4322 kilometre, the longest known train route in the country.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, the principal director for School Education and the bureaucrat in charge of stranded Nagaland citizens outside the state, Shanavas C, said that the Shramik special train departed from Trivandrum on June 9.

Shanavas informed that the train will be arriving with a total of 966 stranded Nagaland citizens from the southern states of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Further, the principal director informed that most returnees arriving on this train were from Mon and Dimapur.

According to the commissioner-secretary and chief nodal officer for inter-state movement, Dinesh Kumar, Nagaland has created history by arranging the Shramik special train travelling the longest known train route. The previous record for the longest train journey in India was held by the Vivek Express that operates on a weekly basis from Dibrugarh in Assam to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, a distance of 4,273 km.

Thiruvananthapuram train reaches Dimapur with 938 people.  

The special train carrying 938 people of Nagaland from Thiruvananthapuram reached Dimapur about 9:20 am on June 13. The passengers comprised 108 persons from Peren, 30 from Phek, 46 from Kohima, 47 from Wokha, 25 from Zunheboto, 20 from Longleng, 385 from Mon, 35 from Kiphire, 17 from Mokokchung, 42 from Tuensang, and 183 individuals from Dimapur district, updates from the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) on Saturday stated.

All the returnees were transported by buses to their respective districts, aside from those from Dimapur, after undergoing thermal screening at the railway station in Dimapur.

‘They were also provided food packets and water and also snack packets to have on the way. Returnees of Dimapur district were taken directly to Agri Expo where necessary medical screening was done, and lunch served before they were taken in the designated quarantine home,’ the updates stated.
