Diphu, July 12 (EMN):
Protesting against the skyrocketing price hike of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and essential commodities, the Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (KADCC) organised a one hour demonstration and signature campaign from 10 am to 11 am at Assam Oil depot in Diphu on Monday.

Speaking to journalists, Ratan Engti, VP of KADCC said, ‘During the Congress rule when the price of petrol was INR 45-50 and cooking gas was INR 350, the BJP propagated about ‘accche din (Good days) and people voted for them to form the government. But now when we look at the government, the poor people are being suppressed by the BJP and policies are created only for Ambani’s to control the markets’.

Engti also said, ‘When we look at other states, the prices of petrol have already crossed centuries and the price of cooking gas, which was INR 350 earlier, has now reached INR 950 and home delivery can cross INR 1000. Think about the daily wage earners, rickshaw pullers and street vegetables vendors, who are struggling to survive amidst the hike in prices of these essential commodities. Therefore, we urge the central as well as state govt. to roll down the prices of essential commodities and fulfil the pre-poll promises and avoid diversion politics. Moreover, the BJP govt. need to stop indulging in syndicate raj in Karbi Anglong and treat all the people equally’.
