Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): A workshop and training programme in event planning and management in Nagaland was held on May 9 at Jotsoma village near Kohima town.
The government’s publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), issued on Thursday a report about said programme.
The founder and director of The Ignite Enterprise, Shaju I Ignatius spoke about the initial stages of event planning in the country and how the ‘power of experience’ gave rise to “experiential marketing,” the IPR stated.
“Event management is a creative combination of arts, science and commerce,” he said. ‘It is as professional and large as any of these fields and added that it is the art of ideation and creativity.’
The trainees were told about the importance of event management and the preparations that go into successfully conducting ‘global events such as the Olympic games, FIFA World cup, Oscars, IPL, Kumbhmela etc.’
Ignatius said event managers have to be crisis managers because when something goes against what is planned and how the event manager handles it, their solutions will ‘differentiate between a good and bad event manager.’ He said,
“Whatever you may do human error and technology error can never be guaranteed.” God is the biggest event manager, he added.
The project director of the government’s Music Task Force, Hovithal Sothu said that the training programme was organised so that musical events and tourism concerns besides social events in the state can be more well-managed and organised. The two day workshop was organised by the ministry of Youth Resources & Sports.
Ignatius is an industry veteran of events in India with over two decades of prolific experience in special projects, brand marketing and business management, the IPR sttaed.
Some of his notable projects include Michael Jackson’s India concert, Filmfare Awards, Femina Miss India pageants, IIFA Awards, Delhi Commonwealth Games ceremonies, and the EVC Festival among many others mega productions, the updates added.
