Dimapur, June 27 (EMN): The Janata Dal (United) leadership has written a letter to the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) asking the latter to “furnish the relevant documentary evidences to support the claim of the ‘official merger’” of the JD (U) unit with the NDPP.
Mohammad Nisar, coordinator for the JD (U) publicity and program, issued a copy of the letter addressed to Chingwang Konyak, president of the NDPP.

The party’s letter stated: ‘I am hereby, directed by the honourable national president, Janata Dal (United) Nitish Kumar, to request you to furnish the relevant documentary evidences to support the claim of the “official merger” that you NDPP has stated, clearly mentioning the detail of who are the state executive members, office bearers etc., within 7 days from the issue of this letter failing which the JD (U) will be compelled to pursue other lawful course of action against your NDPP.’

The Nagaland unit of the JD (U) issued a separate statement on Thursday in response to the development. The party stated that MLA Kaito G Aye, although elected from the JDU ticket, “his heart and soul was never with the party.” The party stated that he “had been trying to defect to BJP.”

The press release stated: “The JDU feels relieved for being cleaned of garbages which was stinking and destroying the good odour of the party. Whatever allegations that has been levelled against the party or its top functionaries, it does not find merit and befitting to be responded because, opportunists and power mongers will always find a hole to perforate their fingers and throw the dirt at others.”

The Nagaland JD (U) has assured that it shall remain firm and steadfast to rid Nagaland of crime, corruption and communalism under Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
