Dimapur, Feb. 21 (EMN): The Indian National Congress has been in the opposition for ‘so many years but the party is seeing a silver lining at the end of the road.’ A reinvigorated Nagaland unit of the Congress, thanks to electoral victories in the central states of the country, has begun a tour to the state’s electorate population.
The Dimapur District Congress Committee has launched its district tour on Thursday, at the Singrijan Council Hall, in Dimapur.
The DDCC issued a press release informing about the event where an invitation was given out that the Congress party welcomes people from all walks of life to join its fold to ‘preserve and secure secularism and democracy from the fascist forces.’

According to the updates, the committee’s president, Bendang, no surname given, talked about the need to strengthen the booth workers. He urged the assembly constituency workers to set up polling booth workers at the earliest. He said Dimapur III was a vast area and there was a ‘presence of large number of minorities’ there.

“He urged the party workers to be dedicated and work for the victory of the party in the Lok Sabha polls. The president further highlighted about the Jan Sampark Abhiyan,” the press release explained.

‘He also encouraged the party workers to visit each and every house and educate the people about the Congress ideology. He expressed hope that Congress will win the Lok Sabha polls both at the centre and the state.

The secretary of the NPCC, Temjenyanger, no surname given, also spoke during the occasion. He was stated to have talked about the Jan Sampark Abhiyan or door-door campaign, which was launched by the All India Congress Committee.
“He said that the Congress has been in opposition for the past so many years but the party is seeing a silver lining at the end of the road and this is because of the dedication and selfless service of the party workers at the grassroots level despite so many hurdles.”

The secretary was quoted in the press release as having said that the United Progressive Alliance I and II were “the golden years in the history of India.”

“The Congress party introduced so many welfare schemes for the public which has transformed the lives of many. But the BJP is the government for the corporate and not for common people. The BJP govt. has fooled the people through its jumlas (sic). However, the people have realized the lies of the BJP,” the committee stated.

As for the campaign, ‘Jan Sampark,’ is all about going door-to-door to educate the people about their rights, “the treachery of the BJP,” and how Demonetisation and the GST made the lives of people a ‘living hell,’ the press release stated.

Akavi N Zhimomi, secretary of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee also spoke during the event, the updates stated. in his short speech, the Congress leader said that “many people are sceptical that Congress will not come back to power but the recent mega rally of the Congress in Varanasi, UP has put all doubts to rest.”

Zhimomi was stated to have asserted that the BJP has ‘done nothing for the minority. In fact, BJP has stirred communalism after it came it power.’
“He encouraged the party workers to have faith and work for the victory of the party. He further argued that the BJP does not stand for inclusiveness and the Modi led BJP government is not accommodative.”

According to the updates, the Congress leader added that the Congress party welcomes people from different walks of life to join its fold to preserve and secure secularism and democracy from the fascist forces.”
