INR 113 cr. sanctioned for Kohima Smart City

Kohima, Sep. 20 (EMN): The government of India has sanctioned funds totalling to INR 113 cr. for Kohima Smart City project. This was revealed by the minister for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Metsubo Jamir in a reply to an un-starred question raised by opposition MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro during the second day of the ongoing assembly.

Jamir said that INR 2 cr. was given as advance for preparation of the Smart City proposal, while INR 107 cr. was released as a part-payment of project funds for first year by the ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on April 20 2017; INR 2 cr. for administrative and office expenses (AOE) for the first year to develop Kohima as a smart city; INR 2 cr. as state matching share against A&OE for implementation of the smart city mission.

Progress of the mission: Metsubo Jamir said that the detailed project report for projects segments of the mission was ‘under submission for technical approval.’ “The project will be implemented after the appointment of project management consultant (PMC). The selection of PMC for Kohima Smart City Mission is in the final stage,” he said. He added that the master plan draft had been prepared, and shall be finalised and approved in consultation with the PMC.
