Dimapur, April 21 (EMN):
The government of India’s interlocutor for Naga peace talks, AK Mishra, met with the leaders of Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC-NNPG) at Chümoukedima Police Complex on Thursday.

Secretary of WC-NNPG, Ghukiho T Zhimo informed Eastern Mirror  that they had reiterated their stand on the Agreed Position signed with the government of India on November 17, 2017 to Mishra during their three-hour-long closed door meeting and conveyed that the people were ‘overwhelmingly longing for early solution’.

Zhimo added that they had conveyed to the interlocutor that the Central government was not respecting the people’s sentiments and lacked commitment.

They said all the issues had been resolved and Naga people were just waiting for the government of India to take the call.

Zhimo also informed that they had not scheduled more meetings with Mishra but the government of India would intimate them as and when required.

During the meeting, the interlocutor also informed the WC-NNPG leaders that the final settlement is taking time since the Central government is working on making comprehensive documents for the Naga solution and the work is in process, added Zhimo.

He went on to say that the government of India should not ignore the plea of the Naga people this time.

Mishra is also reported to have said that the Centre is committed to solving the Naga issue.

The meeting with the WC-NNPG leaders came after the interlocutor had an informal meeting with the NSCN (IM) General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah at the NSCN’s camp in Hebron in Nagaland on Tuesday. A reliable source revealed that a formal meeting between the two parties will be held on Friday and Saturday at the Chümoukedima Police Complex.

Mishra also had a meeting with church leaders and civil society organizations on Wednesday.

The Centre’s interlocutor for Naga peace talks had arrived in Nagaland on Monday for a week-long stay in an attempt to resolve the vexed Naga political issue.
