Zeena Singh For Eastern Mirror Sunday

Hello folks,

[dropcap]I [/dropcap]believe that life has so much to give if only we cared to give a little thought to the most minuscule of joys (which we’d find so much of) only if we’d stop looking at the looming discomforts and discontents.
So here I am, to share with you the simplest joys in my life as I have experienced some time in my life and those that I take as I face each day, at a time.

A Fool’s Paradise
No, it has never been my dream land. Didn’t exactly grow up in it, Born here? Yes! I do affirm only about a handful of recollections of exciting childhood days, and growing up years here, as most were spent away.
But this was a place where Home and Parents would be, to whom we’d return after months of distanced living year after year. A place within whose four walls we shared love in simple ways, found happiness and little joys in undemanding, unpretentious, uncomplicated minimal ways.
Today once more I’m here where home stands; the origin of my father’s forefathers; here, longer than the usual short visiting trips that I was used to. Here, with only memories now to cling to of my parents who spent a greater part of life together.
What do I find here I’m asked? Serenity and quiet as against twenty odd years amidst a cacophony of noise that even disturbed one’s thinking.I find myself surrounded by scenic panoramic views of creation’s spectacle, naturally displayed that unquestionably is a ‘write home’. A perennially pleasant temperate climate almost through the year is a boon for its inhabitants. Living comforts within the house though not as efficiently updated, its old charm decor and pretty settings to me is a fairy-tale world, a refuge, a hide-out and sanctuary, protecting my sense of well being and spells of feeling alone. Most often a regard of somehow giving the less privileged what I perhaps may have gained, abounds overpowers and triumphs.
But as severe and stark, realists’ harsh realities are driven home- knocked, beaten, drummed and hammered. This world is not ideally the spot to fulfil one’s dreams in. The beckoning green pastures lie elsewhere. Realism reflects unrest, turbulence, strife, conflict, turmoil, disorder, instability, agitation, fear, fighting, and disturbances in that which technically, while wretchedly is homeland.
So, dear readers, what is the verdict- a Hangman’s Noose or the Guillotine?
Would you call it ‘Looking at the world through Rose tinted glasses’? ‘Living in denial’? ‘Much too much of idealism’? Alas! A fool?’
For I am the Fool of this Fool’s Paradise with a trace of optimistic Faith in God’s leading, – tenaciously clawing my way through without giving in- appreciating the simplest of the simple that is doled out.
