Improved diagnosis for animal health care

The Department of Veterinary and Animal husbandry has improvised its new Diagnostic facilities to monitor various diseases of Livestock and poultry of economic importance in the state. The New Diagnostic equipments are implemented under Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Project. It was launched by the Director, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry on 28th Nov. 2013. The new machineries assist surveillance of various diseases affecting Livestock and poultry and establish the disease patterns, seasonal occurrences, route of transmission and to established early warning system of the diseases in the state.
Presently the facilities will be use for diagnosis and surveillance of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), Brucellosis, Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS), swine fever (Hog Cholera), Rabies, New Castle Disease (Ranikhet disease) etc.
This new diagnostic facilities will facilitate the Livestock farmers in the following ways;
1. Early diagnosis of the disease outbreaks in order to prevent and control of further spreading of the diseases.
2. Farmers animal wealth will be safe and secured which would have been lost due to disease that might spread causing great economic loss.
The Director during the launching programme appealed to the Livestock farmers to avail the service by reporting any disease outbreaks to the nearest Veterinary Health Centres, Veterinary Hospitals etc, on emergency basis.
