Imnatiba inaugurates ITI Longleng

Dimapur, Jan. 9 (EMN): Advisor of Industries & Commerce, Labour & Employment and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Imnatiba, on Monday inaugurated the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Longleng at Pongo.

Minister for Health & Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom and deputy commissioner, Longleng, Dharam Raj, also attended the inauguration programme, according to an update.

The advisor in his address said that since the upgrade of Longleng as a district in the year 2004, the district is witnessing a gradual change in all- round development activities.

Briefing on the importance of ITI institutions, Imnatiba said they provide skills, training and certificates to qualify not only for government jobs but also enable youth to set up their own business.

Imnatiba said there was a time in the past where government jobs were provided based on certificates without quality education and skill development.

“However, in the present context the world has changed so much that without quality skill and technical knowledge, we cannot be qualified for a job opportunity both in the public and private sectors,” he said.

He also informed that unlike in the past, a minister or MLA cannot provide jobs based on certificates without skill development.

The advisor appealed to the leaders of the area to give awareness on the importance of the ITI institution so that the students can develop their skills with dedication during their training period.

A person who is well trained and has the skills will always find options in his or her their life, he added.

He also advised the youths and students not to get involved in politics but to focus more on sustainable economic development by coming up with prospective plans and road maps to shape the future economy of the district through skill development training in the ITI.

Pangnyu Phom in his speech extended gratitude to the Skill Development & Entrepreneurship department led by Imnatiba and the Pongo Village Council for making the institute a reality.

He stated that the ITI institute established under Pongo jurisdiction is meant for the entire people of Longleng and that Pongo village is the guardian of the institution.

DC Longleng, Dharam Raj, shared that Nagas have inborn talent and skills and given the opportunity to train properly in technical skills, their prospects of getting jobs will increase.

Enumerating on various streams and trades which the ITI can provide to create job vacancies, the DC urged the department to focus more on additional training along with the traditional training to boost service sector in the state.

Deputy Director, ITI Kohima, H Alongse, in his project report informed that that the ITI Longleng was constructed at an estimated cost of INR 6 crore and 20 lakh, excluding the machineries and equipment which will come in the second phase.
