Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital in Mokokchung organises workshop on hospitality for staff members on the theme “United in purpose, caring beyond duty.”

DIMAPUR — Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung, in collaboration with Eagle Crest Training Academy and Consultancy (ECTAAC), Dimapur, organised a two-day hospitality workshop on November 11 and 12 at the multipurpose hall of IMDH Mokokchung on the theme “United in purpose, caring beyond duty.”
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mokokchung, stated that the initiative was aimed at enhancing and providing the highest standard of patient centred care and strengthening team unity. The workshop was designed to improve patient care, satisfaction, safety and compliance and also to improve overall workplace efficiency and to reduce patient conflicts and mitigate litigation risks by improving communication, empathy and teamwork skills.
The workshop focused on the core principles of hospitality tailoring them to a healthcare environment. It stated that all hospital staff including clinical, administrative and support teams participated in the workshop.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Ademla Tinu, medical superintendent at IMDH, said: “Communication gaps and other communication issues can lead to poor overall healthcare efficiency, patient dissatisfaction and even patient safety risks.” She informed that the workshop was not just to polish speaking skills but also transform how healthcare workers interact at every level, boosting empathy, engagement, mutual respect and teamwork.
Dr. Ademla also mentioned that “our staff is the backbone of the hospital and investing in their communication and team work skills is an investment in patient wellbeing.” She added that the workshop would not only create a positive work environment but also directly influence patient’s emotional and psychological health, which is crucial for their recovery.

Allin Awomi, operations head at ECTAAC, while appreciating the organising team from IMDH, mentioned that the workshop was first of its kind in a government healthcare facility in the state.
Resource persons namely Asheli, aviation trainer-cum-trainer team leader at ECTAAC, and Ayani Kikon, soft skill trainer-cum-editor-in-chief, trained the participants on patient priority handling, clear communications skills and team work to build strong connections, solve problems faster and achieve goals together.
It stated that the workshop the workshop was part of IMDH’s ongoing commitment to providing the highest standard of care for its community.
It mentioned that IMDH is one of the oldest district hospitals in the state catering not only to the people of Mokokchung district but also to neighbouring districts like Longleng, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto. It added that besides providing comprehensive quality and affordable healthcare services, IMDH also serves as an integral part of the district’s health system by offering medical, surgical and dental care, conducting health education and medical care, supporting government health programmes and providing training and supervision for other healthcare works.
It added that IMDH offers a wide range of services such as 24x7 emergency services, general medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecologist, paediatrics, ophthalmology, pathology (lab and blood bank), radiology, anaesthesia, radiotherapy, ENT, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, dental, Ayush (Ayurveda, homeopathy and yoga), OST, ART, NCD, ICTC, ARSH, dietician, 24X7 citizens’ welfare pharmacy, dialysis, mental health programme and oncology (day care).
In another programme, the department of Health and Family Welfare, Mokokchung, organised a health camp on Wednesday at MMC Complex, Mokokchung. The health camp was conducted as part of district-level padyatra activities to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
A total of 104 beneficiaries were screened for non-communicable diseases and medicines were also distributed. It mentioned that five health camps would be conducted in both urban and rural areas by the health department.
The next NCD screening camp would be held on November 15 at MMC complex.
