Dimapur, March 16 (EMN): The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has informed that its ‘first phase of non-local verification drive’ of 2020 will be conducted from March 20 to April 25 at ASU office, located below AIR station at BOC in Kohima.

In a press release issued on Monday, the union stated that the exercise aims at “thwarting the invasion of illegal immigration towards the state and not discriminating any Indian citizen possessing valid ILP”.

Citing past incidents of ILP holders being harassed by ‘unofficial personnel’, the union urged citizens to report such cases of ‘unwarranted confrontation’.

“While we foresee inconveniences to many genuine citizens towards affecting this exercise, we urge all citizens to cooperate so as to counter this threat collectively,” it stated.

The union informed that the documents required for this process are:

• Copy of Inner Line Permit (ILP)

• Any of the following valid documents: Aadhaar/voter ID/NRC certificates/PAN card/driving licence

• Valid trade licence

• Two passport-size photos

Government employees and students will be exempted, it added.
