Minister for Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu on Wednesday stressed on the need to preserve one’s culture and identity, saying that losing it amounts to losing everything.

Kronu was addressing the cultural session of 75th anniversary of the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) at Phek town.

He said that the Chakhesang community is known for their hospitality, hard work and honesty.

Stating that the present generation is fortunate to avail education, unlike in the past where people could not even afford to read good books, he encouraged the students to work hard.

He said students can have access to everything including learning via offline and online today. With everything at their disposal, if one fails, than whom to blame, he said.

He encouraged students to continue to learn and be optimistic.

‘If you are qualified, sincere, honest and hard working, don’t worry about job,’ he said, adding “If you think you can, you can. But if you think you cannot, then may be, you cannot.”

Phek Deputy Commissioner Razovolie Dozo attended the valedictory function.

President of Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu, Hotoshe K Sema and president of Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (Poumai’s apex student body) Asahrii Clement also shared solidarity messages at the event, while Chakhesang Youth Front president Vezhoduyi Nakro shared greetings.

Rüzazho Students’ Union, Mesulumi Students’ Union and Chetheba Students’ Union won the first, second and third prizes respectively in folk song competition held during the programme, Kütsapo Students’ Union won the first prize in folk dance competition, Yorüba Students’ Union second and Losami Students’ Union third.

The new team of CSU will be led by Avezo Kevin Kapu as president for 2022-24 tenure. Vice president is Visapa Movi, general secretary- Pei Kezo, assistant general secretary- Asalu Veswuh, finance secretary- Povozo Soho,  treasurer- Josuno Rhakho, social & cultural secretary- Vekhosu C. Nyekha, games & sports secretary- Veswu Vero, publicity & information secretary-Zapoi Dzudo-o, education secretary -Pfhulo Sara and editor-Kuzoto Swuro. Union Assembly: Speaker- Weneizo Mero, deputy speaker- Chekholo Akami and Khrotso Wetsah as assembly secretary.
